How is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
You can perform blepharoplasty operations for cosmetic or functional purposes. You can achieve blepharoplasty surgery only on the lower or upper eyelids, or it can be applied to both areas if necessary. Along with your blepharoplasty surgery, it is possible to simultaneously perform your midface surgery, forehead lift, and brow lift operations. Blepharoplasty operations usually take 1-2 hours. Depending on the procedure or the patient's preference, they are performed under local or general anesthesia. Depending on the scope of your eyelid surgery, you may need to stay in the hospital for one day. Detailed information about this will be given to you by your doctor.
Pre-operative preparation:
Due to the risk of bleeding during the surgery, blood thinners and aspirin should be interrupted 4 - 7 days before surgery.
Since using cigarettes and similar tobacco products will adversely affect your lung capacity and general anesthesia, you should stop it 2-3 weeks before.
Herbal supplements are another factor that you should avoid before surgery.
You must share your medications with your doctor before the operation if you have any diseases, such as blood pressure and diabetes.
Types of Eyelid Aesthetics:
There are two types of eyelid aesthetics. Upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgeries can be performed separately or together. Your doctor will determine the method of treatment suitable for you after consultation.
Upper Eyelid Aesthetics
Upper eyelid aesthetics removes the sagging skin and muscle tissue above the eye with a small incision. In this way, the droopy eyelid is eliminated. Since the incision made during the application is made from the fold line of the eye, no scars are visible after the operation. Only in the interventions on the upper eyelid can surgeons make the application with local anesthesia, and the discharge process takes place on the same day. In addition to this operation, we recommend the combination of eyebrow lift and forehead lift to our patients who want to get better results cosmetically.
Lower Eyelid Aesthetics
Inevitably, we all age. With the effect of this aging process and gravity, the sebaceous glands in our cheekbones move downwards. As a result of this movement, sagging and bags occur under the eyelid. In lower eyelid aesthetics, the fat under the eye is first removed with an incision made under the eyelashes. Depending on the eye structure, if the plastic surgeon notices a concave form under the eye (collapse), he applies oil injection treatment to elevate these areas. In this method, also called eye bag aesthetics, if the surgeon deems it necessary, it removes excess skin and makes the eye look tauter. Combining this procedure with eyebrow lifting, almond eye, and forehead lift is possible and quite common.
What Changes in Your Eyes After Surgery:
Eyelid surgeries are frequently preferred worldwide due to the ease of application and the ability to be combined with other cosmetic operations. After blepharoplasty, you will get rid of the wrinkles around your eyes and get younger skin and self-confidence.
You will look healthier as the bags and discoloration under your eyes that make you look tired will disappear.
